Volunteering is crucial to our ability to help and care for those we assist through CMA. We can do more and offer more with the generosity of your time and efforts. Not only that, but everyone benefits from the positive energy felt by those giving of themselves.
Artistic Impressions
If creativity is your thing, you can use your artistic abilities by volunteering to teach an art class. As every artist already knows, the power of self-expression is invaluable. Art is in the eye of the beholder, and your passion and energy will help to inspire their creations. In addition, the ability to express yourself provides a true sense of empowerment.
Beautification
Whether your specialty is a green thumb or an eye for detail, CMA always looks for those who can help with beautification projects in the Long Island area. If painting elaborate murals, planting gardens, or generally spreading cheer through cleaning up and beautifying your community sounds fun, your skills and efforts are always welcome.
Financial Literacy
If you’re experienced with money management and have the ability and demeanor to teach what you know, you’d be a great fit as a financial literacy volunteer. You can guide and show our participants the basics of understanding credit scores, creating a budget, and many other critical economic life skills.
Recreation
Defined in part as a pastime, diversion, exercise, or other resource affording relaxation and enjoyment. It is that and so much more to our residents and participants. Enjoy playing games, physical fitness, art, photography, creative writing, and most importantly, sharing your time and engaging with others. You may be an excellent fit as a recreation sessions volunteer.
Professional Development
Professional development volunteers foster essential life skills that help individuals to get jobs. Here, you can assist participants in learning how to correspond through email, create resumes, and offer advice on the interview process. These are building blocks toward achieving a level of independence.
